Inspiring Education Series
Since early March, the Maskwacîs Education Schools Commission has been making proactive decisions in our fight against COVID-19. This is to ensure that our 11 schools continue to be safe and inspiring places of learning for our students.
On March 16 of 2020, classroom activity was cancelled in all the schools across Alberta.
Our dedicated staff have been working non-stop to ensure students continue to be engaged in learning from home. We could not have taken these next steps without parent and/or guardian involvement.
We may not be able to meet face to face, but our staff have risen to the challenge and continue to provide the level of education that the parents and/or guardians of Maskwacîs expects. These are Akâmihk, Nipisihkopâhk, Neyaskweyâhk, Kisipatinâhk and Mîmîw Sâkahikan.
Our teachers have inspired us all through their innovative ways to use technology to connect with students and families. This includes the creation of good news videos and nature walks, reading stories, helping with spelling, and guiding high school students through career pathways and graduation requirements.
This commitment to students and quality education is what the Maskwacîs Education Schools Commission is grounded in. It demonstrates our commitment to wâhkôhtowin and the strength of working and learning together.
Thank you for being our partners in Education, and helping to strengthen wahkohtowin within Maskwacîs and Pigeon Lake for the benefit of our awasisak and oskayak.
