Inspiring Education Series
Each Friday, until mid June, MESC will be profiling outstanding individuals who will share their perspective on education and the importance of reaching personal goals.
Inspiring Education - Ida Bull
In this week’s video, we feature Ida Bull as she speaks on the importance of Nehiyawewin (Cree Language), and Cahkipehikanisak (Cree Syllabics) instruction in MESC schools. Ida is a passionate teacher, researcher and advisor for the Learning Services Branch of Maskwacîs Education Schools Commission. She is currently assisting with the development of a Maskwacîs curriculum.
Ida has been working as a teacher since graduating University in 1978. She’s been specializing in Cree programming and instruction for over 20 years, since the Maskwacîs Cree took control of local education in the early 1990’s. Her enthusiasm and straightforward approach to instruction has helped generations of Maskwacîsak learn Nehiyawewin.
If you are interested in furthering your Nehiyawewin skills, please check out the online Cahkipehikanisak (Cree Syllabics) class that Ida hosted this year.
