Inspiring Education Series
Each Friday, until mid June, MESC will be profiling outstanding individuals who will share their perspective on education and the importance of reaching personal goals.
Inspiring Education - Colton Parayko
Colton graduated from Paul Kane High School in St Albert. He played hockey for two seasons with the Fort McMurray Oil Barons in the Alberta Junior Hockey League – earning a full athletic scholarship to the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF).
Colton played three seasons at UAF then signed a NHL contract with the St. Louis Blues. During his rookie year with the Blues, Colton finished his final year at UAF and graduated with a degree in Business Administration.
Colton is still very interested in continuing education. His first thought was to get his helicopter pilots license – but unfortunately the terms of his NHL contract prohibited that. He is currently taking an online engineering course – in his words “just for fun”. Colton has every intention of furthering his education while playing the highest level of hockey in the world.
