As per the “MESC Guidelines to Manage a Positive COVID-19 Case”, the Executive team has initiated a MESC-wide reset as a preventative measure to mitigate the risk of COVID-19 in MESC schools. With the exception of grades 10 – 12, schools are closed to students from Tuesday, January 18th until Monday, January 31st. Classes will resume on Tuesday, February 1st. The Executive, in collaboration with the DEM’s and MHS, will reassess the situation on Wednesday, January 26th and provide an update. All MESC administration buildings will remain closed to the public. Please check this website and the MESC Facebook page for updates.
Because the end of the semester is quickly approaching, classes for students in grade 10 – 12 at Nipisihkopahk Secondary School and Ermineskin Jr./Sr. High School will resume on Tuesday to Friday during this reset. Students will be completing courses for credits during this time. Lunch and transportation will be provided. Students entering the schools will need to complete the screening process.
Learning materials for the two weeks will be delivered on January 20th and the Nanâtohk Mîciwin program will arrange delivery of student meal packages on January 20th and January 27th. Rapid test kits for students will also be included with the January 27th delivery of food packages. Please ensure someone is home to receive these packages on these days and have dogs tied up to ensure the safety of our employees.
MESC will continue to put the safety and wellbeing of Kiskinwahamawâkanak (Students) and Otatoskewak (Staff) at the forefront of all decisions. We’d like to remind everyone that public health orders for self-isolation are mandatory. Our thoughts remain with those that have tested positive, and we wish them a safe and speedy recovery.
