MESC has taken into consideration the Alberta restrictions announced on May 4th. In consultation with Maskwacîs Health Services (MHS) and the Maskwacîs Directors of Emergency Management (DEMs), all students in MESC schools will transition to at-home learning effective Tuesday, May 11th. We anticipate students returning to in-class learning on Tuesday, May 25th. Bussing will be paused during this time as well. An update will be posted on the MESC FaceBook page and website on Thursday, May 20th.
Students with complex needs and students in grade 12 may be scheduled to receive in-person instruction during this closure. Schools will contact identified students to make these arrangements.
Learning packages will be sent home beginning Friday, May 7th. Schools will remain open for select staff during this time and parents can contact schools on Tuesday to Friday between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm for more information. Teachers will continue to reach out to students and families with a variety of learning supports to ensure the needs of students are met. Communication with your students’ teachers during this time is crucial for student success.
This transition may cause a strain on students and families but together we will get through this as partners in learning. We thank you for your understanding and continued support. Wellness supports are available on the MESC counselling support web page. We look forward to seeing students again soon! In the meantime, please stay well, follow MHS/AHS public health orders and follow all mandatory restrictions.
