Summary
The Shop Labourer will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the shop floor. This individual will perform a variety of tasks including cleaning, organizing materials, assisting with product assembly or repair, loading and unloading deliveries, and providing general support to skilled tradespeople. The position requires physical strength, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

The Shop Labourer is responsible to the Shop Supervisor.
The Shop Labourer will have specific responsibilities for:
- Adhere to Maskwacis Education School Commission policies and procedures and all government regulations at all times.
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of work areas to ensure a clean, safe, and efficient environment.
- Carry out general manual labour tasks, including lifting, carrying, and moving materials, tools, and equipment.
- Comply with traffic regulations to operate vehicles in a safe and courteous manner.
- Resolve any conflicts in a positive, respectful and proactive manner.
- Complete vehicle cleanliness inspections post trip, removing any garbage and lost items.
- Help with loading and unloading materials, parts, and products.
- Assist in organizing stock, parts, and tools in the warehouse or shop area, ensuring proper storage.
- Maintain inventory levels and assist with stocktaking or periodic inventory checks.
- Able to comply with transportation schedule
- Fueling and making minor mechanical repairs to vehicles.
- Pickup parts and deliver to shop
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must possess and maintain a Valid Class 5 Driver's License ( Class 2 considered an asset)
- Must maintain eligibility to be insured by MESC’s insurance provider without the Commission being charged an additional premium or surcharge. Failure to do so, shall be a breach of contract, and result in termination of employment with cause.
- Minimum (3) years' safe driving experience
- Clean driver's abstract
- Excellent driving skills and habits.
- A First Aid certificate is considered an asset.
- Ability to read and interpret maps
- Must submit Criminal Record/Vulnerability Check and Child Intervention Check
Working Conditions
- Ability to remain attentive when faced with distractions.
- Manual dexterity required to operate a large motor vehicle.
- Sitting for an extended period of time.
- Exposure to all weather conditions.
- Repetitive work.
- May be required to lift up to (75) lbs.
- Safety equipment will be required (e.g., steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses/goggles)

- Ability to work flexible hours. ie: weekend work, with time in lieu during the week.
