Given our commitment to Maskwacîsak, MESC has begun the development of a holistic Maskwacîs Early Learning Program and Kindergarten to Grade 12 (K-12) Curriculum. To begin this process, a Maskwacîs Curriculum Development Guide was created based on the MESC foundational values of Îyinîw Mâmitonehicikan, Nehiyaw Pimâtisiwin, Nehiyawewin, and Wâhkôhtowin. Therefore, throughout their learning journey, Maskwacîs Awâsisak will know and understand their history and identity as Nehiyawâk to develop the foundation for Miyo Pimâtisiwin and Kahkiyaw Kîkwây Kânehiyawemakahk.
A timeline has been developed and will be updated periodically to engage and inform Maskwacîsak as to the progress of development and engagement opportunities to provide feedback on the draft Early Learning Program and K-12 Curriculum. MESC is therefore grateful for the contributions and support of students, parents, guardians, teachers, educators, school leadership, education partners, and Maskwacîsak for supporting a vision and contributing to the development of a Maskwacîs Early Learning Program and K-12 Curriculum. Our collective responsibility and commitment will benefit Maskwacîs Awâsisak today and in the future.
