Presenters: Dr. Lillian Gadwa-Crier & Angellin Crier
In the 30 years of teaching, I have come across different behaviors and attitudes of First Nations children, good and bad. My observation was the influx of lack of respect and lack of compassion for one another. My belief is that our First Nations children need to be taught their teachings and beliefs, in order to be proud of who they are. Once that pride is instilled, our children can excel in their schooling. This presentation will reflect on my experience of moss bag teachings and how First Nations students responded. My hope in my educational journey is to inspire change within our present school systems and communities through incorporating First Nations teachings and knowledge into curriculum.
