4. What is ‘Meet the staff’?
Parents and guardians meet MESC school staff, tour student classrooms, and have the opportunity to see what their child(ren) will be learning over the course of the academic year.
5. Where can I find a school calendar?
MESC School calendars will be sent home with each student or they can be found online here.
6. Where do I register my children for back to school?
Student registrations forms can be downloaded from http://www.maskwacised.ca/registration or filled out in paper copy at the MESC Administration office until Friday, August 23, 2019* (located in the Nipisihkopahk Education Authority building). After August 26, 2019, student registration forms can be completed at each school’s individual administration office.
*Please note: MESC Administration Summer Hours: 8:30am – 3:00pm. Summer hours end on August 23, 2019
7. What is the MESC school intake process for new student registrations?
The MESC school intake process will be the same as previous years under the former education authorities. Each individual school within MESC will make their own decisions on student admittance.
8. What supplies do students need?
MESC will be providing students who attend MESC schools with all necessary school supplies for the 2019-2020 school year on the first day of school including school lockers.
9. How do I register for bussing with Maskwacis Transport?
Please call Maskwacis Transport at 780-585-2424.
10. What assistance will students (who reside on reserve) going to school off-reserve receive for school supplies?
Maskwacîs students who reside on the following reserves: Ermineskin, Samson, Montana, Louis Bull and Pigeon Lake and attend schools in Wolf Creek Public Schools, Wetaskiwin Regional Public Schools or Saint Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Schools will qualify for school supply funds. A cheque will be issued to the Parent/Legal Guardian in the amount of $100 per student for the 2019-2020 school year.

11. Who will be responsible for off-reserve student fees?
MESC currently has interim education service agreements with Wetaskiwin Regional Public Schools, Wolf Creek Public Schools, and St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Schools to pay for tuition, andnon-refundable school fees directly for Maskwacîs students who reside on reserve and attend schools off-reserve. Parents will not be required to pay out of pocket for these fees. Parents are responsible for all extracurricular and refundable fees.
If you have any questions regarding student fees for Maskwacîs students residing off-reserve and attending school off-reserve, please contact your First Nation’s Band Administration.

12. Will MESC provide breakfast and lunch for students?
MESC will provide nutritious, delicious, creative and attractive food (breakfast, lunch and snacks) to every student attending MESC schools on every school day for students from Kindergarten through to Grade 12.

14. Where is the Maskwacîs Education Schools Commission office located?
The MESC Administration office is currently located in the Nipisihkopahk Education Authority building. MESC Learning Services and Student Services branches are located at the Alex Rain Memorial Building.

15. How do I find out about weather transportation delays and school closures?
Changes in transportation route closures will be announced through MESC’s Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/MaskwacisEducation).
