Update (03/13/20)
In light of the COVID-19 concerns and out of respect for the health and safety of students, parents/guardians and staff, MESC’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic is to continue following Alberta Health Services direction. To date, MESC has made the following decisions in response:
- Cancel all out of province school travel
- Review all upcoming field trips
- Cancel parent teacher interviews
- As of the first week of March, MESC has implemented an extra cleaning protocol and will bring in support to do extra disinfection of all schools and administration buildings during the miyoskâmin (spring) break
- As of March 17, 2020, MESC will disable water fountains as a precautionary measure as advised by Maskwacis Health Services. (Parents/guardians may send water bottles and MESC will provide alternative sources of water for all students and staff)
- School gatherings have been cancelled or postponed (eg. feasts and regular assemblies)
- MESC has recommended all staff cancel all out of country travel until further notice
Because this situation is ongoing, please continue to follow this page or for more details from Alberta Health Services:
Alberta Health Services COVID-19 updates and information
We’ve had some questions about our system’s response to the COVID-19 (novel coronavirus). In response, we have the following:
- MESC will take direction from Alberta Health Services (AHS), and AHS currently advises that the risk to public health in Alberta from the COVID-19 remains low.
- The attached letter is from AHS about the COVID-19. Please review it, we are following all the advice provided in the letter.
