Maskwacîs Education Schools Commission, in collaboration with the Maskwacîs Directors of Emergency Management and under the recommendation of Maskwacis Health Services, has initiated a MESC-wide reset. This decision was made as a preventative measure to help control the spread of COVID-19 in Maskwacîs. We continue to keep the health and safety of students and staff as our highest priority.
This means:
- All in-school classes are paused
- Schools are closed to students and the public from November 19th until December 7th. Classes may resume on December 8th.
- MESC schools and administration buildings will be closed to staff from November 20th, 2020 until December 7, 2020
- Enhanced cleaning protocols at all MESC schools will be initiated.
Learning Packages will not be sent home during this time. You can access the MESC website for materials to support your child’s learning. Teachers will continue to contact awâsisak and oskâyak (children and youth), as well as ohpikinahawasiwin (parents/guardians) during this period to discuss assignments and report cards.
Students can connect with their school counsellor by using our counsellor request form. Students can also access many fun videos and activities. There are also resources available to support ohpikinahawasiwin (parents/guardians) in supporting their children while they work from home.
The Counselling website is intended to provide support in non-urgent situations. If an urgent situation regarding mental health and wellness arises, please contact Mobile mental health 780-362-2150 (call or text).
