Additional Information:
The Nehiyawewin Resource Developer is primarily responsible for the identification, evaluation, development and recommendation of nehiyawewin learning materials and resources to support the development and implementation of a Maskwacîs Early Learning Program and K-12 Curriculum.
As an employee in the organization, the Director of Information Technology will model the intent of the Maskwacîs Declaration on Education and the core values of Wahkohtowin, Iyiniw Mamotohnehickikan, Nehiyaw Pimatisiwin, and Nehiyawewin. This is evidenced by:
- Ensuring that decisions are made to the ultimate benefit of Maskwacîs students;
- Assisting the Superintendent and the board to ensure that all students benefit from their treaty right to a quality education;
- Respecting the Cree language, spirituality, and traditions within the Education Authority; and
- Providing Maskwacîs leadership (the Cree way) in all matters relating to education in the Maskwacis Schools: consensus building, creating dialogue with stakeholders, and empowering leadership in the system.
Responsibilities
The Nehiyawewin Resource Developer is responsible to the Nehiyawewin Coordinator.
The Nehiyawewin Resource Developer duties include but are not limited to:
- Identify, evaluate, develop, create, and recommend nehiyawewin learning materials and resources that support the development and implementation of a Maskwacîs nehiyawewin K-12 Curriculum.
- Manage and archive Maskwacîs historical and current teaching and learning resource assets, including Elder and community interviews, recordings, and documents in an organized and easily accessible manner for required staff.
- Support the building of nehiyawewin instructor capacity to utilize nehiyawewin resources in classroom settings and identify nehiyawewin learning outcomes.
- Collaborate with MESC Curriculum team, Curriculum and Instruction team, Circle of Elders, school leaders, and Maskwacîsak to inform and validate MESC Curriculum and resources.
- Model and promote continuous learning experiences through reflection, professional growth, and communication.
- Other duties and tasks as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Education, Bachelor of native Studies or Bachelor of Arts minimum, lived experience and knowledge and skill related to digital development of resources and nehiyawewin will be considered
- Ability to speak, read, and write nehiyawewin fluently
- Experience working with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and Maskwacîsak
- Minimum of two (2) years relevant experience
- Previous experience in handling confidential or sensitive information

Knowledge and Skills
- Oral fluency is an asset and written proficiency in Nehiyawewin is required
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Maskwacîs culture and traditions
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and integrity demonstrating respect to staff, parents and members of Maskwacîs
- Ability to work with minimal supervision in a team environment
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong written, oral, and presentation skills
- High level of sound and independent judgment, reasoning, and discretion
- Proficiency using Google applications
- Proficiency using Adobe InDesign and Illustrator programs
- Willingness to participate in ongoing professional learning
- Demonstrated respect for diverse backgrounds, perspectives and abilities
- Ability to make effective decisions and work in an efficient manner
- Demonstrated ability to access and utilize various research methods
- Proven problem-solving ability and initiative to take on roles as a mentor and peer learning coach
