The Inventory and Supply Clerk is responsible for managing the procurement, distribution, and tracking of cleaning supplies and handling the organization’s mail operations. This role ensures the efficient delivery of supplies and mail to the appropriate departments or individuals while maintaining accurate records.

Responsibilities
The Inventory and Supply Clerk is responsible to the Custodial Supervisor.
The Inventory and Supply Clerk duties include but are not limited to:
- Inventory Management
- Order and replenish cleaning supplies, maintaining optimal stock levels.
- Conduct regular cycle counts and physical inventory checks to ensure accuracy.
- Identify and rectify discrepancies between physical counts and system records.
- Process and fulfill internal supply requests and deliver items to appropriate locations, which includes moving furniture and equipment.
- Manage incoming and outgoing mail, including pickup, sorting, and delivery.
- Maintain detailed and accurate inventory and transaction records.
- Communicate with vendors to ensure timely delivery of supplies and resolve order issues.
- Assist in maintaining an organized supply storage area and ensure adherence to inventory management best practices.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure their supply needs are met efficiently.
- Evaluate new custodial supplies and equipment by testing such items and recommending the appropriateness of their use.
- Equipment Operation:
- Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and order pickers.
- Conduct routine maintenance checks on equipment.
- Coordinates with the supervisor on equipment malfunctions or issues and sends out for repairs.
- Perform minor repairs and equipment maintenance.
- Safety Compliance:
- Adhere to safety regulations and guidelines.
- Adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety policies, procedures, and processes.
- Maintain a clean and organized warehouse environment.
- Participate in safety training programs.
- Report and address any safety concerns promptly.
- Documentation and Record-Keeping:
- Utilize inventory management software to streamline processes, track inventory levels in real time, and generate reports.
- Maintain accurate records of inventory levels, shipments, and receipts.
- Generate reports on warehouse activities as required.
- Ensure compliance with documentation and record-keeping procedures.
- Administration Duties
- Attend and participate in all required meetings.
- Adhere to all MESC policies, procedures, and handbooks.
- Provide custodial coverage when required.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
- Building service worker certificate preferred.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Prioritize work assignments.
- Ability to multi-task and establish priorities.
- A minimum of five (5) years of custodial work experience is required.
- First Aid Certification.
- Fall Protection Safety Training Program
- TDG Certificate
- Must possess and maintain, at minimum, a valid class 5 driver's license.
- Must qualify to be insured by MESC’s insurance provider without the Commission being charged an additional premium or surcharge.
Working Conditions
- Hazards associated with custodial work
- Physical ability to lift to 75 lbs
- Safety equipment will be required (e.g. steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses/goggles)
